The Window at Belvedere Palace in Vienna and the Window at the Freer Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

Today when I was browsing posts from other fellow bloggers, I found a post of a picture of the window at the Freer Gallery of Art at Washington D.C. very much similar to the one at Belvedere Palace in Vienna where the famous painting of Klimt— “the Kiss” is housed.  Here’s the picture that I took a few years ago at Belvedere Palace. You can vaguely see the Belvedere Garden from the window.

I went to the Freer Gallery many times because of its famous Peacock Room and also it has a good collection of Asian art in the U.S.  However, I never paid attention to the window.  I sent a message to the fellow blogger and told her that the header of my blog is actually taken from a picture of the Belvedere window, and I found that the design of window at the Freer Gallery is quite similar…

    This is serendipity…I was reading your travel post of the day the Berlin Dom at the same time you were viewing mine!

    “the kiss” is a bigger than life size painting by Klimt. I was standing in front of the painting for more than 15 mins, awed and speechless! Can’t forget that experience. The postcard, images on books etc…are far from the real painting. Love it, love it…
